Cat Flea

The cat flea is the most common flea species in North America. Despite its name, it infests both cats and dogs, as well as other animals and humans. It is responsible for most flea infestations in homes.

Dog Flea

The dog flea is less common than the cat flea but can still infest dogs, cats, and other animals. It is similar in appearance to the cat flea but has some distinguishing characteristics.

Bites

Flea Dirt

Flea dirt (flea feces) appears as small, dark specks on pets' fur or in their bedding. It is actually dried blood and turns red when wet. Finding flea dirt is a strong indicator of an infestation.

Flea Eggs

Flea eggs are tiny, white, oval-shaped specks that may be found in pet bedding, carpets, or on pets' fur. They are difficult to see with the naked eye but can be detected with a magnifying glass.

Flea Larvae

Flea larvae are small, worm-like creatures that feed on organic debris and flea dirt. They are typically found in dark, humid areas like pet bedding, carpets, or cracks in floors.
